Jon completed a PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Warwick in 2012 with a thesis about the future of the sun and the earth after the sun dies and becomes a white dwarf star. He developed algorithms in Python to search billions of entries across multiple databases of stars. After a summer in a Bedouin village in Egypt teaching windsurfing, he decided shift his career to something closer to home and co-founded Sauce.
